A K-Pop idol openly revealed why he lied on broadcast, evoking sympathy from viewers.

On the 27th, an episode of tvN‘s You Quiz on the Block, hosted by Yoo Jae Suk, featured Lee Joon from MBLAQ. On the show, he confessed about his impoverished childhood and his feelings toward his family.

Lee Joon said, “My father’s business failed during the IMF crisis,” and shared, “From sixth grade through middle school, my older sister and I worked every vacation sticking flyers.” He also recalled his tough childhood, saying, “When there were leftover school lunch scraps, I’d ask if I could take them home in a plastic bag to eat.”

He notably revealed, “At the time, my goal was to live in a clean house,” adding, “There were so many cockroaches that sometimes they were under my pillow or even on my toothbrush,” evoking sympathy. He also mentioned, “I went to Korea National University of Arts because the tuition was affordable.”

Later, Lee Joon disclosed that at the age of 24, he secured a rented apartment for his parents. However, on the show, the apartment was introduced as owned property, attracting attention as he made a sudden confession of conscience after 15 years.

He explained, “It was actually a rental,” and confessed, “Life was so difficult then that many people pitied me, and some looked down on me.” He added, “So, I lied to show that I had ‘succeeded to this extent’ by saying I bought it.

Upon hearing this, Yoo Jae Suk comforted him, saying, “Providing your parents with a rented apartment in your early twenties is really hard,” and “Your parents must have been so proud.

Lee Joon reflected, “I felt so good. It was the life I dreamed of since childhood. It was a house with one living room, three bedrooms, and a wooden floor. I liked it so much that I even wanted to reveal it on the show.”

He continued, “Although I had the goal of having a clean house, I didn’t say, ‘I will achieve this no matter what.’ I lived focusing only on one day at a time. I believed that if I just didn’t give up and lived day by day, good days would come. That’s why living one day at a time was my method.”
