The Real Reason BTS Skipped The “2026 AMAs” Afterparty

Over the years, BTS has often skipped award show afterparties to hang out with ARMY instead, but that’s not the only reason why they didn’t attend their latest one.

On May 26, BTS attended the 2026 American Music Awards (AMAs) as nominees and presenters. They won all three of their nominations: “Artist of the Year,” “Song of the Summer,” and “Best Male K-Pop Artist.”

The group had much to celebrate, but instead of partying with fellow award winners after the ceremony, BTS hosted a Weverse Live to chat with ARMY.

According to RM, who held a solo livestream on May 28, BTS didn’t go to the afterparty because some of the members dislike mingling.

He was also worried that some of the members would struggle with communicating in English.

🐨 Yesterday after the AMAs, we thought about going to the after party and mingling with artists and producers a bit, we thought about it and then didn’t go. I was afraid to and the members have difficulty with English and some of us don’t like mingling.

Fans praised RM for being considerate of his members, some of whom are introverts who need to recharge after social events.
