Star Couple Confirms Breakup On Air Just Three Months After Their First Date

Former volleyball star Kim Yo Han revealed that he and pilates instructor-turned-CEO Lee Joo Yeon decided to stop seeing each other only three months after meeting for the first time on Channel A’s Groom Lessons Season 2.

The breakup was confirmed during the July 10 broadcast, when Kim Yo Han invited his parents to his home for the first time in seven years since he began living alone. After inspecting his neatly organized apartment and jokingly searching for signs that a woman had been there, his parents eventually asked the question many viewers had been wondering. “How are things going with Joo Yeon?” his parents nudged.

Kim Yo Han paused before revealing that the relationship had ended.

Kim Yo Han and Lee Joo Yeon first met through a blind date featured on the program in April. Their relationship continued to unfold on camera, but viewers noticed an uncomfortable atmosphere during their camping date on Ganghwa Island. Kim Yo Han later explained in the studio that the awkwardness had not been temporary.

After the date, the two met privately and had several serious conversations to resolve their differences. Ultimately, however, they were unable to reach an understanding.

His parents reacted with visible disappointment to the news. Rather than placing the blame entirely on Lee Joo Yeon, they questioned whether their son’s own shortcomings may have contributed to the breakup. His parents commented, “Could Yo Han have been the problem? It seems like he still has a lot to work on.” Kim Yo Han appeared to agree, admitting that he believed he lacked decisiveness. His mother then offered direct advice about what it takes to maintain a serious relationship.

She also made her own position on marriage unmistakably clear, telling him that it was not something he could simply treat as optional. His father took a more optimistic approach and encouraged him to try again, while the show’s cast reassured Kim Yo Han that the breakup could become an opportunity for a new beginning.
