Gong Yoo Wants A Messy, Steamy K-Drama Affair With Kim Go Eun—Gets Turned Down For An Unexpected Reason

Guardian: The Lonely and Great God co-stars Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun recently discussed what kind of K-Drama they would want to film together if the cast ever reunited for another project.

The conversation took place during tvN’s Goblin 10th Anniversary Trip, which brought Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook, and Yoo In Na back together nearly a decade after the hit drama first aired. When Yoo In Na asked what genre they would choose for a future reunion, Gong Yoo immediately proposed something far removed from Guardian: The Lonely and Great God‘s sweeping fantasy romance.

I want to film a completely chaotic adulterous drama where Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na are married, and Kim Go Eun and I are also married, but Yoo In Na and I are having an affair.

That was when Kim Go Eun revealed why she was not particularly enthusiastic about the idea. She explained that a drama like that would inevitably require strict dieting and physical preparation, since the actors would likely have to undress for intimate scenes. Lee Dong Wook appeared surprised by the assumption and asked whether a bed scene would really be mandatory.

Kim Go Eun responded as though the answer were obvious.

What do you mean? Are we supposed to only kiss in an affair drama?

Despite Kim Go Eun’s concerns, Gong Yoo made it clear that he was still fully interested in the concept. Looking toward the camera, he invited anyone with the right project to contact him.
