Korean Actress Thinks Being Pretty Is Enough, Gets Taught A Lesson

A Korean actress shared the story of how she thought being pretty was enough to be an actress and what that led to.

On the JTBC variety show Knowing Bros aired on August 8th, Hong Jin Ho, Park Ji Min, Choi Yeon Cheong, and Heo Seong Beom were guests.

During the show, the Knowing Bros members admired Choi Yeon Cheong’s exceptional beauty, noting she has a similar vibe to Kyulkyung, a member of the group I.O.I. They also praised her saying, “She looks like an actress out of a martial arts novel.”

Choi Yeon Cheong debuted as a child actress in Korea and continued acting into adulthood. She revealed, “I also appeared in the Super Junior music video for ‘Magic.’”

However, she confessed to going through a slump due to a complacent attitude towards acting during a rising period. Choi said, “I was doing well, then thought, ‘I can make it just because I’m pretty,’ slacked off, and stopped practicing acting,” adding, “I kept failing auditions.”

Eventually, when things didn’t go well in Korea, she moved her career base to China and later established herself as a star there, which surprised many.

Choi Yeon Cheong’s real name is Choi Gyu Ri, and she was born on August 14, 1993. A traditional Korean music major, she competed in the 2013 Miss Korea pageant and debuted as a model before becoming an actress.
