An actress who has been in a relationship with a married director opened up about her eventful daily life, balancing parenting and acting perfectly on the set of her first film shoot after giving birth to her son last year.

On August 14th, Kim Min Hee attended the official Q&A session at the 79th Locarno International Film Festival, introducing her partner, director Hong Sang Soo’s new film Nowhere to Lay My Eyes, in which she played the lead, and shared her feelings on her comeback.

This attracted great attention as it was her first public mention of managing both parenting and film work after giving birth.

That day, Kim Min Hee said, “It was the first film I shot after taking about two years off following childbirth,” adding, “My condition was very different from before.”

She particularly described the vivid scenes on set, saying, “My baby was on the set even while we were filming. I had to breastfeed and prepare baby food there as well. I did those things on the set.”

She confessed, “The very first thing I did was to finish all the preparations for my baby in a blink of an eye. Only after completing those preparations did I get ready for the film,” drawing attention.

However, Kim Min Hee revealed that through this challenging process, she discovered a healthier acting philosophy.

She said, “The determination to devote myself solely to the film like before disappeared, and the version of me that naturally decided to do my best after finishing preparations for my baby was actually healthier.” She added, “That mindset seemed to naturally seep into the character Sanghee in the film.”

She continued, “I think the mindset of not trying too hard or being overly polished, and accepting and enjoying moments in daily life, is reflected in the character too,” expressing deep affection for the work by adding, “I think the beauty that appears casually, almost unintentionally, might be that very nature.”
