PSY’s “SUMMER SWAG” Show Sparks Yet Another Controversy

PSY‘s SUMMER SWAG show has caused a controversy, and netizens are not happy as this is not the first time the show has led to an issue.

On August 15th at 7 p.m., the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League game between the NC Dinos and Lotte Giants took place at Busan Sajik Baseball Stadium. Dense smoke covered the field, leading to a temporary pause around 8:42 p.m.

At the time, PSY’s SUMMER SWAG concert was underway at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium near Sajik Baseball Stadium. Smoke from fireworks launched during the concert was blown by the wind into Sajik Stadium. The thick smoke quickly spread around the field, obstructing the players’ visibility and resulting in the umpires deciding to halt the game.

The Lotte Giants informed spectators via the scoreboard that the game was temporarily suspended due to fireworks smoke from a concert event near the stadium.

Fortunately, the smoke didn’t linger long. Once visibility was restored, the game resumed at 9:01 p.m., ending the roughly 19-minute stoppage.

However, there is disappointment as a similar incident occurred last year. In August last year, a fireworks display from PSY’s SUMMER SWAG held at the Busan Asiad Auxiliary Stadium also caused a game suspension at Sajik Baseball Stadium.

The recurrence of a similar situation at the same nearby location after one year has sparked renewed controversy over the concert fireworks interfering with baseball game proceedings, stirring what’s known as the “SUMMER SWAG nuisance” debate.
