BLACKPINK’s Lisa Opens Up About Dating, Sparks Divided Response

BLACKPINK’s Lisa recently opened up about the restrictions and hardships faced while living as a K-Pop idol. In her documentary, Always Lalisa, she stated, “I have finally started living my own life.”

She added, “I couldn’t dare to raise my voice or express my thoughts,” revealing she had lived this way since she was 14 years old.

She also burst into tears while talking about coming to Korea in 2011 and going through the monthly evaluation videos she submitted to YG during her time as a trainee.

Regarding dating, she explained that they couldn’t “date in K-pop culture.”

If you are caught dating by the paparazzi, your popularity drops. I dated a few times when I was young, but I had to hide it. I didn’t want my relationship to be the cause of BLACKPINK’s decline in popularity.

In her song “Dream” from her solo album Alter Ego, she confessed it was inspired by her experience with a secret relationship.

I received permission from that person before releasing the song, and they agreed on the condition that fans would not discover their identity. Fans think they’ve figured out who it is, but I don’t think so.

However, fans expressed divided responses to her thoughts on dating.

Meanwhile, the documentary will share a year of Lisa’s journey toward independence, and will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11.
