BLACKPINK’s Lisa Addresses Her “N-Word” Controversy

BLACKPINK member Lisa has reportedly addressed the controversy about her singing the “N-word” in videos that were taken during her trainee period.

On September 11, KST, Lisa’s solo documentary, Always Lalisa, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Since then, multiple posts have highlighted some key aspects of the movie.

According to some of these posts, Lisa addressed the highly controversial topic of her singing a racial slur while covering songs during her time as a trainee.

Allegedly Leaked Videos Of BLACKPINK Saying The N-Word Surface Online

The idol apparently explained that those videos were taken at a time when she was fresh out of Thailand, and completely unaware of the deep, racist implications of the term. She simply learned the songs required of her for the trainee evaluation. After educating herself on the topic, she wanted to release an official statement through LLOUD, but YG Entertainment allegedly opposed the decision. The latter reportedly felt that any statement would escalate the situation and, hence, it was better not to speak out.

LISA also addressed the leaked trainee video and the n-word controversy.

This clarification has since gone viral on social media, drawing a range of reactions from fans and non-fans alike. While the former group is enraged by YG Entertainment’s poor handling of the issue, the latter remains skeptical of the truth of the situation.
