Beloved Korean Star Heartbreakingly Recalls Going Through Six Rounds Of Chemotherapy

A beloved Korean star opened up about the pain of battling cancer, sharing what it was like to go through six rounds of chemotherapy.

On the afternoon of the 26th, MBC’s entertainment program So Ra and Jin Kyung aired its first episode.

Hong Jin Kyung spoke about the 15 years she had been apart from Lee So Ra, saying, “During the 15 years I didn’t see my unnie, I got married, had children, battled cancer, and even went through a divorce,” calmly confessing the turbulent life she had endured nonstop.

Especially, Hong Jin Kyung candidly shared the harrowing emotions she experienced while fighting cancer, saying, “I had cancer. I went through chemotherapy six times. Six times. Chemotherapy is like that. The first and last sessions are the easiest. The first is because you don’t know what to expect, so you just go through it. The last is because it’s truly the last one,” recalling the painful process.

She added, “The third and fourth treatments in the middle were the hardest. I wanted to give up then. I didn’t want to live anymore,” confessing the mental and physical limits she faced during chemotherapy. Fortunately, she revealed she has since fully recovered and is now healthy, reassuring Lee So Ra.

That day, Lee So Ra also mentioned Hong Jin Kyung’s steadfast loyalty even during her cancer battle. Lee So Ra expressed deep respect for Hong Jin Kyung’s consistent care for the late Choi Jin Sil’s children, saying, “You kept looking after Hwan Hee and Joon Hee.”

When asked how she takes care of the children with such a heart, Hong Jin Kyung responded, “I haven’t been able to see them often or take care of them a lot, but I started with the intention to be consistent. I’ve always wanted to be steadily by their side, so they can come to me whenever something happens,” drawing attention.
