BLACKPINK Lisa’s New Single Sparks Scathing Backlash And Accusations

BLACKPINK‘s Lisa is facing harsh criticism following the release of her new single, “Tarantino.”

On October 23, Lisa released her new track alongside her latest EP, Press Play. The new song follows her previous single, “SaWaDiKa,” which made waves when it was released in September.

However, her latest track has received a very different response from some listeners, with netizens taking to X to share their brutally honest opinions.

The song takes inspiration from legendary filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, with Lisa putting her own spin on the world of action movies.

The accompanying music video features the BLACKPINK star in the role of an action heroine. Lisa fights her way through a hotel to deliver a letter to her favorite director.

While the concept gives the release a clear Hollywood-inspired theme, not everyone has been impressed with the song itself.

Lisa, girl at this point maybe being a musician just isn’t your calling.

Following its release, several netizens took to X to criticize the track, with some questioning its sound and others making comparisons to another rising artist.

Many comments appear to reference ADÉLA‘s viral hit “Nicole Kidman,” with some listeners suggesting that Lisa is trying to recreate the attention surrounding the track.

She’s trying so hard to release a viral hit like Adela but all her trashy releases aren’t going anywhere beyond Thai bots and YouTube payola 😭

Despite the mixed reactions to “Tarantino,” Lisa’s latest release marks another step in her solo career.  Press Play features “SaWaDiKa,” “V12,” “Cobra,” “Tarantino,” “Cut U Off,” and “Sweat.”

Lisa previously explained that the project was inspired by her journey and Thai roots, with each track having its own character and style. She compared the EP to a movie, with listeners being invited to press play and experience the different tracks.

Whether the single will eventually find a wider audience or remain a divisive release among listeners remains to be seen.
