On May 7, 2026 (KST), Go Hyun Jung appeared on a YouTube video uploaded to Davichi member Kang Min Kyung‘s channel, where she candidly spoke about the health struggles that led to her current appearance. The actress, who has recently been described by netizens as “bony” or “skeletally thin,” explained that her weight loss was not the result of extreme dieting or GLP-1 medications like Wegovy.

During the video, Go Hyun Jung opened up about a serious emergency surgery she underwent in 2020.

She also revealed that while she had been managing her condition with medication, severe stress in 2024 caused her health to deteriorate again. According to the actress, she collapsed once more and struggled to even receive emergency treatment due to overcrowded hospitals. “I finally got surgery at 12:20 in the morning and survived,” she recalled. The actress further explained that eating has become difficult and even frightening after her medical complications.

I used to love eating and cooking, but food just doesn’t go down well anymore. Even with kimbap, which I love, I can only eat one or two pieces. I’m just scared that if I eat, something will happen or I’ll end up in pain again.

Her comments come after online rumors intensified over the past several months, with some netizens speculating that she had used obesity treatment injections or appetite-suppressing medications to rapidly lose weight. However, Go Hyun Jung firmly denied the claims. “People think I’m on some extreme diet,” she said.

But why would I suddenly start heavily dieting now, when my health has been unstable? I never even dieted like that when I was young.
