The actor recently found himself swept up in a dating rumor with actress Hong Yi Seol, and now, he is sharing his honest reaction to the unexpected speculation.

Heo Nam Jun recently sat down for an interview following the finale of the SBS-Netflix series My Royal Nemesis. During the interview, the actor addressed the dating rumor involving Hong Yi Seol and admitted that he was just as surprised as everyone else.

When asked about the rumor, Heo Nam Jun shared, “I laughed for a while.”

I never imagined that I would have a dating rumor with that friend. It was really funny. I thought, ‘Wow, we can get linked like this too.’ It was really fascinating.

The actor also confessed that the situation made him realize just how much attention he had started receiving. “I also thought, ‘I’m someone who gets dating rumors now?’” he said. “Honestly, I didn’t know articles would come out and everything.”

For Heo Nam Jun, the rumor came during a major turning point in his career. The actor has recently been gaining attention for his performance in My Royal Nemesis, where he played both Cha Se Gye, a chaebol, and Lee Hyun, the younger brother of Joseon’s King Anjong and the Grand Prince Cheonghyeon.

Thanks to the show’s popularity, Heo Nam Jun also recently ranked No. 1 in the drama actor brand reputation rankings announced by the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute.

When asked whether he could feel his rising popularity, Heo Nam Jun said, “I do feel like people recognize me more often now. I’ve been getting a lot of messages from people around me.”
