“Can You Just Let This Go?” — Korean Singer Ends Up Losing Adultery Lawsuit

A Korean singer has lost the first trial in a lawsuit filed against her for damages as an adulterous woman, and neither party has appealed.

According to Star News on October 6th, neither Sook Haeng nor A, the wife of married man B, appealed, making the ruling final.

On the 17th of last month, the first trial court ruled in favor of the plaintiff in part, ordering Sook Haeng to pay A ₩30.0 million KRW (about $22,400 USD) plus delayed interest calculated at the applicable rate. Since then, neither party has appealed, confirming the verdict.

Previously, the Suwon District Court Seongnam Branch Civil Division 7 held a hearing on a claim for about ₩100 million KRW (about $74,600 USD) in damages filed by A, the wife of married man B, against Sook Haeng, and issued a partial judgment in favor of the plaintiff.

A claimed that after her husband B left home, he lived with Sook Haeng and maintained an inappropriate relationship, leading to the lawsuit.

The relationship between Sook Haeng and married man B became public through JTBC’s show and online platforms. CCTV footage showing the two embracing and kissing inside an elevator, along with evidence of B’s frequent overnight absences, sparked widespread controversy.

Recently, part of a phone call between Sook Haeng and A was revealed on a YouTube channel. The recording was uploaded to YouTube, but the original and full content have not been verified.

In the released recording, the woman identified as Sook Haeng pleads with A, “Can you just let this go for once?”

She apologizes, explaining, “I was under the impression the divorce was finalized when we met,” and insists she never intended to break up A’s family. She also stated that after learning all the facts about her relationship with B, she ended it.

Meanwhile, following the affair allegations, Sook Haeng issued a handwritten apology and withdrew from MBN’s King of Active Singers, in which she was appearing.
