Celeb-Turned-Sex Offender On Minors Makes Public Plea

A Korean celebrity who was convicted on sexual offenses agaist minors has expressed his stance on his comeback and recent attacking posts.

On August 25th, Go Young Wook stated on his personal social media account, “It is an unchanging fact that, as far as public knowledge goes, my return to broadcasting is impossible unless there is a surprising change.”

He continued, “I have already enjoyed more public love and popularity than I deserved for my abilities in the past. Of course, I have some personal regrets, but I accept them and live with them,” adding, “I am just an ordinary citizen who goes grocery shopping and cleans up after my dogs at home.”

He added, “I am just posting my thoughts,” and urged, “Stop attacking and fussing over me arbitrarily and focus on your own daily lives.”

Recently, Go Young Wook has attracted attention by posting wide-ranging attacks targeting famous celebrities such as Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Sang Min, Lee Ji Hye, and Park Ha Sun. Criticism is mounting that these baseless attacking posts mentioning celebrities are attempts to attract public attention.

Go Young Wook debuted in 1994 as a member of the group Roo’ra. From 2010 to 2012, he was indicted for sexually assaulting and molesting minors, and in 2013, the Supreme Court confirmed a sentence of two years and six months in prison.
