Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon is gaining attention after an old comment of hers resurfaced following Sooyoung’s breakup with Jung Kyung Ho.

Sooyoung and Kyung Ho recently confirmed they had decided to go their separate ways, ending one of the longest-running celebrity relationships in the industry after 14 years together.

On a past episode of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, Hyoyeon appeared alongside Sooyoung and Yuri, where they talked about Tiffany becoming the first member of the group to get married. During the conversation, Hyoyeon joked about marriage and said, “We’re not young anymore… I think I’ll be next. I’ll say it’s me.”

That prompted an exchange with host Yoo Jae Suk that netizens say could have been a hint.

Yoo Jae Suk: “Does that mean Hyoyeon is the most likely to get married next?”

Hyoyeon: “I believe words become reality, so I’ll say it’s me.”

Due to Sooyoung’s whopping 14-year-old relationship with Jung Kyung Ho, it would’ve been natural for the answer to have been herself. As a result, some netizens are speculating that Hyoyeon may have been aware of a shift in their relationship and was indirectly hinting that a wedding would not happen.

However, others pushed back on the speculation, saying her remarks were clearly made in the context of talking about marriage and her love for children, with no real connection to her fellow member and her then-boyfriend.
