Idol Actress Confesses She Got Stressed About Her “Fat” Visuals In New K-Drama

Red Velvet’s Yeri opened up about the unexpected concern she had while taking on her latest acting role.

On May 19, 2026 (KST), Yeri appeared as a guest on Jo Hyunah’s YouTube show, where Yeri talked about taking on a new K-Drama, Azure Spring, which premiered on MBN PLUS on May 11. In the show, Yeri plays a haenyeo, or female diver, a role that required her to wear a full diving suit.

Yeri admitted that she initially had concerns about how she would look on screen.

At first, I went into it with a big decision. Since it was a haenyeo role, you can’t help but worry about things appearance-wise. The first time I wore the haenyeo suit and looked at the monitor…? I was like, ‘I look like a fat steamed bun!’ And that face ended up in the teaser!

Yeri jokingly reassured viewers that her appearance improves as the show goes on: The little trick she found was using the tight outfit pressed against her body!

Since the wetsuit is so tight, I just ended up tucking everything inside.
