Idol-Turned-Actress Opens Up About Her Struggles With Panic Disorder

A girl group member-turned-actress has candidly spoke up about her struggles with panic disorder.

On September 15th, a video titled “Sleepless Night Live Counseling OPEN” was uploaded on YouTube by Yoon Eun Hye, an actress who first debuted in the group Baby Vox.

In the video, Yoon Eun Hye received concerns and stories from subscribers and provided direct counseling. Regarding a worry about not being able to try something for years, she advised, “If you have to do it but aren’t doing it, isn’t that something you definitely need to do? Just try it.”

She continued, “I think not doing something for years is actually an excuse. That time is too precious. Even if you fail, those years will at least be years where you tried and failed. It’s good if you gain something from it.”

Yoon Eun Hye also empathized with a subscriber who has panic disorder and cannot go to crowded places but is going to Seoul for the first time in 20 years and asked for recommendations, sharing her own experiences.

She began, “I really struggle in crowded places. I break out in cold sweat,” and confessed, “There are times when I have to go somewhere, like an airport where a lot of people line up. When I go, I break out in cold sweat, feel really uncomfortable, and have trouble breathing.”

She added, “I’ve experienced this for a long time. Back then, the term ‘panic disorder’ didn’t exist, and there was no word or way to express it.”

Yoon Eun Hye then recommended, “Don’t go to places that are overly crowded. There are exhibitions with few people. Wearing a hat helps a bit. Often the anxiety comes from being conscious of others, so covering yourself up helps lessen it. Going to the Han River late in the day is nice too — the breeze is cool and you don’t catch others’ eyes.”
