IU’s Brother Reveals His “Impossible” Life Goal, Only For Her To Shut Him Down Immediately

IU recently spent a night watching the Perseid meteor shower with her younger brother, but what began as a peaceful stargazing outing quickly turned into a hilariously competitive sibling moment.

On August 26, IU uploaded a new video to her YouTube channel. While lying outside waiting to spot shooting stars, IU invited her younger brother to join her, assuring him that his face would be kept hidden from the camera. After learning that he had never seen a shooting star before, IU explained that he should decide on his number-one wish in advance so he could make it the moment one appeared.

Then came his answer.

IU immediately laughed off the ambitious goal. She joked that somewhere in an alternate universe, there might indeed be a version of her brother who earns more money than “Ji Eun,” IU’s real name. But when she asked him again to come up with an actual wish, and he insisted he had already given one, IU firmly refused.

Her brother eventually changed his wish to lose enough body fat to reach 8% by the end of the year. Unfortunately for him, that one did not receive IU’s approval either. “That’s not something the stars do. You have to do that yourself. You really don’t understand what a wish is,” IU teased.

The exchange had all the makings of a classic “real siblings” moment, with IU mercilessly shooting down both of her younger brother’s attempts.

IU has rarely shown her brother publicly and has generally kept her family out of the spotlight, making the casual interaction an especially entertaining glimpse at their off-camera relationship. And while becoming richer than one of Korea’s most successful singers and actresses may indeed be an ambitious goal, at least her brother now knows better than to expect help from a shooting star!
