KATSEYE Sophia’s New Hiatus Update Sparks Major Backlash

An update regarding KATSEYE‘s Sophia has been announced.

In early August, it was announced that Sophia would be taking a temporary hiatus to ensure her “mental health and wellness are prioritized.” Since then, the idol has remained on hiatus with some updates, including one directly from Sophia herself.

On October 8, HYBE announced that Sophia would be returning to activities in January 2027. The notice confirmed that she would not participate in any activities for the rest of the year, but would be welcome back to the group at that time.

While many were excited for the update, others couldn’t help but compare the updates regarding Sophia to those made about Manon. Manon has been on hiatus since February 2026, and there have been few updates from the company about plans for her return.

Fans commented on this, questioning what exactly was going on with Manon’s status with the group.

So in two months you update about Sophia’s situation twice and reassure fans that she is coming back in January, but for 8 months you have been silent about Manon’s situation and you don’t even have the decency to tell us anything about her future? #FREEMANON

so it only took a month for them to release a statement about sophia but it’s been almost a year since they sent manon on hiatus and haven’t issued a statement even tho she has no health issues…. 😭

In the span of two months you gave two updates about sophia’s situation & even set the date for her return, but in 21st this month manon will be on her 9th month of “hiatus” with ZERO updates, we know this isn’t a normal hiatus so where’s her departure statement? RELEASE IT
