Comedian Park Na Rae has been handed over to the prosecution on charges of violating related laws during the operation of her agency, in addition to her ongoing legal dispute with former managers.
According to the police on July 14th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul sent Park Na Rae to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office on the 9th on suspicion of violating the Act on the Development of the Popular Culture and Arts Industry.
Previously, it was reported that Park Na Rae had been sent on the 10th on charges related to special assault and violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection concerning a former manager, but it was later revealed that she had been sent on different charges as well.
Park Na Rae is reportedly suspected of operating agency business without officially registering her personal corporation as an entertainment planning business.
Under the current Act on the Development of the Popular Culture and Arts Industry, anyone intending to engage in entertainment planning must formally register with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Operating without going through the registration process can result in imprisonment of up to two years or a fine of up to ₩20.0 million KRW (about $13,300 USD).
