Popular Rapper Exposes BTS RM’s Treatment Of Old Peers After Fame

A story about BTS leader RM’s treatment of his peers who helped him during his pre-BTS days has garnered heavy attention online.

The story was shared by rapper DinDin in a recent video on the YouTube channel Ting Ting Ting Ting.

While the cast was discussing personal relationships in the context of wedding gifts, DinDin brought up an anecdote involving RM and rapper Sleepy.

DinDin mentioned that Sleepy and RM were close before the latter became a global star as a member of BTS. In his early career, when RM was still underground, Sleepy apparently helped him bag audition opportunities while he was still a trainee.

Years later, when Sleepy was getting married, RM heard about it and decided to reach out to his old peer directly on social media. In a heartfelt gesture, the BTS leader transferred him ₩10.0 million KRW (about $6,550 USD) as a wedding gift after getting his account information directly through DMs.

Sleepy and RM reportedly became acquainted during RM’s pre-debut years, when the BTS leader was active in Korea’s underground scene and developing connections with artists affiliated with hip-hop crews. His spending such an extravagant amount on a wedding gift only underscored his loyalty to his old peers, especially since he had previously admitted that his usual wedding gift budget is around $1,000 USD.
