Remembering TANY, The Sewol Ferry Memorial Song Singer Who Tragically Died At Age 22

It has been eight years since the late singer TANY, who debuted with a memorial song for the Sewol Ferry disaster, passed away.

The late TANY died in a car accident around 2:30am on April 14, 2018, while driving on the Namhae Expressway when his vehicle crashed into a structure and was completely destroyed by fire. He was only 22 years old at the time, making his untimely death all the more tragic.

At the time, a representative of his agency, HOM Company, told OSEN, “TANY had released a single last January and was resting afterward. He had planned to release an album in the second half of this year. He was on his way to visit his family before starting music work when we received this heartbreaking news.”

Since the tragic accident occurred as the late TANY was going to see his family before preparing for a comeback, his family was deeply shocked, and his agency and acquaintances were also engulfed in grief over the sudden loss.

Notably, TANY debuted as a singer in December 2016 but passed away before even reaching two years of activity. This sudden accident cut short his blossoming dream of becoming a singer, leaving his family, friends, and agency with profound regret.

TANY debuted in December 2016 with the memorial song “Always Remember,” dedicated to the victims of the Sewol Ferry disaster. He then released his second single, “Tomorrow – A Better Day,” which portrayed the reality faced by job seekers in today’s world.

With his calm voice, TANY conveyed comfort through songs about the Sewol Ferry memorial and the struggles of job seekers. Before his death, he expressed his wish to “sing songs that comfort the sorrows of the world,” making his departure at the young age of 22 all the more heartbreaking.
