Song Ji Hyo And Hair Designer Candidly Open Up About Her Drunk Haircut Controversy

Actress Song Ji Hyo and her hair designer opened up about their feelings during the drunk haircut controversy.

On July 2nd, a video titled “The Short Haircut Incident ‘Now I Can Talk About It’—Song Ji Hyo’s Revelations from the Hair and Makeup Team” was uploaded to Song Ji Hyo’s YouTube channel.

In the video, Song Ji Hyo invited her hair, makeup, and stylist team and personally cooked for them. During this, she was asked about her toughest moment and mentioned the drunk haircut controversy to her hair designer, saying, “I should apologize to Hong Da for cutting my hair.”

Previously, in November 2021, Song Ji Hyo shocked fans by suddenly revealing a very short haircut. However, the style was so unkempt that many fans strongly protested, doubting the professionalism of the stylist. There was even a statement demanding the replacement of both the hair designer and stylist. After eight months, Song Ji Hyo admitted on YouTube, “I drank a lot and cut it myself,” apologizing to fans and asking them not to criticize her team.

In response, Song Ji Hyo’s hair designer, Hong Da, said, “If I had to pick a time, it was during the short haircut incident. I was really surprised. I got a text early in the morning. I thought she was joking because she tied her hair like that and that she was trying to make me laugh. I had no idea at the time, thinking it was a prank. Then she showed up at my house with that short haircut. I was shocked.”

She continued, “What could I do? She came in a total mess, and it wasn’t a situation where I could fix it easily, but I had to try. So I cut her hair in my bathroom.” Song Ji Hyo added, “Hong Da’s husband was even more shocked,”

Hong Da revealed, “At first, she brought the hair she cut off here as proof, and it was a huge mess,” describing how much worse the state was compared to when it was tidied up.

Song Ji Hyo confessed, “I cut it myself. After that, I posted a photo and received a flood of hate comments. There were even calls to the salon asking why I cut it that way.”

Hong Da reflected, “It was chaos. But if I were really mentally weak, I probably would have been completely broken. Because it was a huge deal. I was told to give back my salary and got cursed at. Fans must have been so shocked. I was, too. But it eventually became just another episode. Still, it was really intense back then,” revealing the emotional toll it took.

Song Ji Hyo expressed regret, “I’m just glad you held on,” and when someone teased Hong Da about tears in her eyes, saying, “Are your eyes watery right now?” she scolded, “Don’t! I’ll cry again.” Hong Da, wiping away emotion, added, “Thinking back to that time… it was really something no one could handle.”
