The first transgender celebrity in South Korea has revealed what it was like when she had the gender reassignment surgery.
On August 7th, a video titled “From peak scandals to divorce, and an honest confession about gender reassignment surgery! Please stop the baseless rumors” was uploaded on Ahn Sun Young’s YouTube channel.
In the video, Ahn Sun Young met with her close friend Harisu. Ahn Sun Young is especially close to Harisu, having even caught her bouquet when Harisu got married.
When asked about her current activities, Harisu said, “I’m collaborating with a gaming company and streaming game broadcasts on YouTube.”
Ahn Sun Young asked about Harisu’s experience with gender reassignment surgery. Harisu revealed, “I had the surgery in September 1995. Back then, there weren’t many such surgeries in Korea, so it was a rare case.”
She continued, “Before the surgery, I had to sign a waiver because there was a possibility of death,” and recalled, “As I entered the operating room, memories of my childhood flashed before my eyes like a film reel.”
She also shared, “The pain after surgery was beyond imagination. Even with painkillers, it hurt terribly.”
