“You Look Like A Zombie” — TV Personality Brutally Lashes Out At Woman On Diet

A Korean TV personality delivered a blunt wake-up call to a woman who has an obsession with dieting.

On the August 17 broadcast of KBS JOY’s Ask Anything, a 35-year-old husband appeared with his 31-year-old wife, troubled by her compulsive dieting.

The wife said she lost 30kg over the past 10 months, going from 70kg to a slim 40kg, but because she was overweight and bullied in school as a child, she developed an obsession with dieting. Concerned, the husband applied for the show.

However, Seo Jang Hoon didn’t believe her story about her school years, saying, “That’s just an excuse. 50kg is enough. You’re losing too much weight.” The wife defended herself, saying, “My face is round, so I look better thinner.” The husband chimed in, “I think she’s trying to reach a celebrity’s ideal weight, which is height minus 120, so she’s trying to lose more.”

Lee Soo Geun was baffled, saying, “If that’s a celebrity’s weight, do I need to stay at 40kg?” Seo joked, “If I go down to 85kg, I’d die. Soo Geun would die too. We’d all die.”

The wife insisted, “I had a gastroscopy and all tests came back normal,” claiming she was healthy. The husband countered, “We visited Gyeongbokgung at the end of May, and after walking for 20 minutes, she vomited,” arguing she wasn’t healthy.

Seo Jang Hoon explained, “From what I see, you have a nutritional imbalance. When we were kids, there was malnutrition. They did tests at school. You’re almost 100% malnourished.” Still, the wife wanted to lose 2kg more, saying, “Even if I regain weight, I want to stay around 40kg. That’s when I look the prettiest.” She is 164cm tall and aims for 38kg.

Seo warned, “You’ll die if you keep this up. I’m not a rude person, but you don’t look pretty. You look older and sunken because you’re so thin. Do you know what this means? Get a grip on yourself. I rarely say this, but you look like a zombie. Is that what you want? Your ideal look is a zombie?”

The husband said his wife’s ideal was actress Pyo Ye Jin. Seo responded harshly, “Did your friends say you look like Pyo Ye Jin after losing weight? You don’t look like her at all. Wake up. You look like a zombie,” delivering yet another shock.

The wife said she exercises regularly, including Pilates, ballet, and working out at the gym. Seo warned, “At this rate, you’ll fall down the stairs while doing a stairs to heaven workout,” expressing concern. Lee Soo Geun added, “The husband looks skinny too,” worried the husband wasn’t eating properly either. The husband confessed that once his wife got mad and threw away the pizza he ordered.

Seo said the husband would likely get exhausted and run away, adding, “The husband is four years older, but the wife looks older. Is that what you want?” He continued to shock them until the production team gave him a warning. Lee Soo Geun then encouraged them with kind words, saying, “You two should eat and work out together,” wishing them a healthy lifestyle as a couple.
