Married Idol-Actor Couple Swept Up In Divorce Rumors

Is a celebrity couple calling it quits? Rumor has it that their love story might be coming to a close.

Nicky Wu is a Taiwanese singer-actor who rose to fame in 1988 as a member of the boy group Little Tigers. He and his second wife, Chinese actress Cecillia Liu (also known as Liu Shi Shi), married in 2015 after two years of dating. She is 19 years his junior. The couple met while filming the hit C-Drama Scarlet Heart, and their on-screen romance eventually turned real. At the time of Scarlet Heart’s release, Liu was 22 and Wu was 41.

Recently, fresh claims about the pair allegedly entering legal divorce proceedings spread quickly across Chinese social media. Online rumors referenced supposed paperwork filings, asset division, company restructuring, and overseas property arrangements, with anonymous accounts claiming the process was already underway.

However, entertainment insiders reportedly noted that the so-called new details closely resemble rumors that have already circulated for years, suggesting that the gossip is being repackaged for clout. Major divorce speculation first erupted in February 2022, leading Liu’s management to deny the rumors and warn against fabricated claims.

The speculation resurfaced in December 2024, when online discussions began dissecting the actress’s appearance and expressions. Again, her agency later released a statement dismissing the rumors as baseless. Wu’s mother also publicly denied the claims in an interview. When the rumors resurfaced again in 2025, Wu to responded firmly and briefly: “We’re fine, stop guessing.”

So far, neither Liu nor Wu has issued a new official statement addressing the latest round of divorce rumors.
