Recently, claims that Chinese actors Chen Li Jun and Ci Sha are secretly in a relationship swept Chinese social media platforms. The speculation reportedly started when a gossip blogger suggested that a “post-90s actress” and a “post-95s actor” began quietly dating after the actor allegedly pursued the actress for years.

Much of the buzz was linked to their upcoming wuxia film Blades of the Guardians. In the film, which is set for release during the Lunar New Year season, Chen Li Jun plays Ayuya, while Ci Sha plays He Yixuan, her former fiancé. They go from childhood friends to something much more complicated; cue emotional anguish, betrayal, and vengeance. Netizens reportedly presented matching “couple items”, overlapping schedules, and supposed hotel-related details as evidence that the two are dating in real life.

However, according to the latest reports, both parties quickly issued strong denials. Chen Li Jun’s team has slammed the claims as fabricated and malicious, saying the rumors had already harmed her reputation and that legal action would be taken against those spreading false information. Ci Sha’s studio followed with a similarly firm response, reposting the allegations marked with a large red “fake” stamp and stressing that the two are only colleagues.
