Nearly a decade ago, K-Pop was rocked with the debut of a girl group called Honey Popcorn.

The trio consisted of Miko Matsuda, Moko Sakura, and Yua Mikami, all with prior experience in idol groups. The three were also AV (adult video) actresses, which caused backlash against their debut.

The group’s lineup has since changed, and they are currently on hiatus.
Honey Popcorn was born out of Yua Mikami’s desire to become a K-Pop idol, and she self-funded the entire venture. Through the group’s activities, she continued working in adult films before retiring in 2023.

She has also opened her own contact lens brand, as well as hair and lash serums.
Last year, seemingly to fulfill another wish, Yua Mikami debuted as a cheerleader for Formosa Sexy, the cheerleading team for the Formosa Dreamers.

Much like in Korea, cheerleaders in Taiwan are regarded somewhat like idols, with their own fans.
Yua Mikami was recently named “Most Popular Cheerleader” for the 2025 season, winning a fan vote. In a recent interview, she expressed a desire to continue cheerleading, despite the language barrier.
Where ever Yua Mikami goes, it seems like she will always find success!
